Alder Prairie Kitchen & Bath
The kitchen is the heart of the home—and here, it beats with natural Midwestern sophistication. This prairie-style kitchen adorned with custom cabinetry by DHDK showcases a graceful blend of textures and tones. Stained clear alder brings a warm, organic richness, while the painted maple island in a matte blue finish offers a striking yet serene focal point. The handcrafted island features elegant tapered legs and built-in shelving, reminiscent of the artistry of classic furniture making.
This craftsmanship continues into the dining room where built-in shelves elaborate on the natural and blue motif. Picture windows and a stately patio door invite natural light to pour in throughout the home.
A counter-to-ceiling herringbone backsplash adds depth and cohesion to the space, where its earthy tones harmonize with the alder cabinetry, copper faucet, custom copper range hood, and solid wood flooring underfoot. Integrated Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances—including a 42” paneled side-by-side refrigerator, a powerful 36” gas range, and a 24” speed oven—offer elevated functionality.
The Prairie aesthetic continues into the reimagined primary suite. Anchoring the space is a custom-built alder armoire in lieu of a traditional closet. Complete with hardware that matches its kitchen counterpart, the continuity cultivates a sense of calm and coherence.
The primary suite's bathroom was remodeled to include a new standalone tub and beautiful new shower with chevron tile floor, a built-in seat, and built-in alcoves. Iridescent blue-green tiles from the shower flow out along the tub wall, while large format white tiles with brown accents emphasize wood tones found in the cabinets and trim.
